The struggle to revive the autonomy of Islam in the geo-political landscape of the first half of the 20th century, which was set in motion across the Muslim world after the fall of the Ottoman Caliphate, has all but faded away By the time the Muslim nations recognized the implications of the hand they were dealt, the colonial powers had already enslaved most of the Muslim world The struggle to regain the autonomy of Islam, therefore, fell on the delicate shoulders of a few private ventures that were either crushed out, forced to change their stance entirely, or fell victim to their intrinsic failures due to a multitude of reasons such as:
Relying on ineffective means to achieve vision and objectives
Adopting democracy for the inner workings of organization
Creating unnecessary Dichotomies regarding methodology
Lack of unity among Islamic Forces
Lack of comprehensiveness in thought
Organizational Management based on activities rather than objectives (following issues arise because of this which are among the reasons of failure)
Organizational discipline becoming objective instead of the vision
Action for the sake of action and acceptability of ineffective struggle
Stagnancy in thought and action
Discarding merit at every level of organization
Lack of strategic planning
Organizational Structure not based on functions
Survival of the organization becoming top priority instead of the vision
Failure to reconstruct and restructure the Islamic thought and making it plausible for the target audience of the age
Failure to continuously produce activists and leaders
Failure in engaging members according to their commitment levels, interests and skillsets
Failure in raising awareness regarding the intellectual basis of Imaan among the members as well as the educated strata of society
Failure to raise awareness regarding the Islamic concept of human rights
Lack of intellectual thinking
Failure to refute arguments against the revolutionary concept of Deen
Lack of support from the Traditionalists
Failure in protecting members from radicalization
As it currently stands, an analysis of these oversights and errors, to re-plan, reorganize, and relaunch a potent struggle for the autonomy of Islam is not just long overdue but the fundamental duty of every Muslim.
The Revival, the foundations of which were laid in March of 2023 is an attempt from a few like-minded individuals to learn from the aforementioned mistakes and address this vacuum Heavy is the burden and immense is the honor that Allah SWT has bestowed upon us, in laying the correct foundations of a struggle that will echo across eternity in sha Allah.
Establishing the autonomy of Islam in all walks of life, especially in this day and age, is a formidable task that needs the highest levels of courage and patience, knowledge and skill, strategic planning and discipline and most important of all Imaan and Unity We request our honorable reader to pray to Allah SWT to grant us these qualities and keep us steadfast in this uphill struggle. Aameen!
